Abstract

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) addresses global health challenges through its extramural programs, its intramural labs, and its training programs for the next generation of researchers. International collaborations are key to advancing specific lines of research, and the contributions of Visiting Scientists and Fellows in the intramural labs is enormous. This presentation will take a look at the NIH's international activities, past and present, and will provide perspectives on trends and opportunities for international collaborations in light of changing patterns of global disease burdens.
