Improving online access for people with disabilities.
Source: Proceedings of the 1:71-7.
Abstract: In this paper the online communication needs as reported by the users with disabilities in Australia have been described. There is found to be a need for accessible e-mail software with word prediction. The prototype system developed by the researchers can be customized and includes a simple interface and simple user instructions, and email facility. The provision of such features will help to overcome the literacy difficulties, which arise as a result of complexities of online programs. The word prediction will not only help in compensating for the limited literacy but will also enhance the speed of message composition for the persons switch devices. (CIRRIE Abstract)
