Abstract: This paper emphasizes the role of internal and external factors in the social and academic competence in students with learning disabilities. Articles that focus on research methodologies relevant to the interaction of external factors, such as social support, connections with family members and peers, teachers' judgments, and school placements, with internal factors, such as motivation, self-concept, and effort are discussed. These internal and external factors can help promote resilience and reduce the risk of failure for students with learning disabilities. (CIRRIE Abstract)
