Abstract: This study aimed to examine the efficacy of a social skills program carried out on chronic mental patients at a psychosocial rehabilitation center in Spain. The subjects for the study were 6 male Spanish adults in the age range of 23 and 40 years. Of these, 4 presented with schizophrenia, 1 with bipolar disorder with paranoid delusions, and 1 with dysmorphophobia with episodes of depersonalization and paranoia. The study used a pretest–posttest design. Treatments included 32 sessions of 2-hr each and were based on instruction, modeling, role-play, feedback, social reinforcement, repetition, and discussion. At the end of the treatment session, training in social perception was given to enable patients to interact better with their environment. (CIRRIE Abstract)
